The Engineering Services Contract (ESC) will focus on engineering development of ground support systems and equipment at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) for handling, test, checkout, servicing and other ground processing of launch vehicles and spacecraft/payloads; flight systems sustaining engineering and analysis; laboratory and developmental shop operations, maintenance and services; applied research and technology development primarily for KSC programs/projects, KSC Institution and other NASA programs; and related technical services. The primary customers of these services will be the Constellation Program and associated Projects: Ground Operations, Ares I Launch Vehicle, Orion Spacecraft, Ares V Launch Vehicle, Earth Departure Stage, Altair Lunar Lander and other future elements. The capabilities provided by ESC will significantly contribute toward mission success of America’s goals of human space exploration and discovery in Earth orbit, on the Moon, and further into the solar system.
